This is a favorite moment of mine so far in Peru so I wanted
to share it with you:

        One night our
team, along with Pastor Juan and Julian, hit the historic part of Trujillo. We
were able to see a protest around a statue, a beautiful Catholic Church, and
ate this noteworthy fried mashed potato with meat, egg, raisins, and onions
inside (I will attempt to make it in the states when I get home.)

       As we were
taking a taxi home I was amazed at Pastor Juan. He had started up a small
conversation with the taxi driver about Jesus Christ. He began talking more and
more about how it was a relationship which could help the driver in his life. Pastor
Juan then gave a small new testament Bible to the man and turned around to us
in the backseat. He asked, “Testimony?”

      We had our
testimonies of what God has done in our own lives written out in Spanish so we
could better communicate to people about Jesus. None of us had ours with us.

       I began to tell
my story in the little amount of words which I knew in Spanish. The drive
replied, “I know English, I lived in Dallas before.”
Praise God! I was able to
tell him in English how God has moved in my life.

     When we arrived
at the church we said goodbye to our driver knowing he now knew of Jesus and
where a bible believing church was in this community.

     It was pretty
late but still we headed to the top of the roof of their 3 story school/church.
As we gazed out across Trujillo and all their lights my heart raced. There was
so much beauty all around us, but more than that I could feel love. The same
love I had felt since we arrived in Peru.

   Pastor Juan looked
out among the city. He stretched out his arm and said in Spanish, “There are so
many families and children who need God out there.” He began to tear up.

   I spoke out in my
broken Spanish, “I feel God’s love for this place, for these people.”

We both smiled knowing God is good. That God sent our team
here to love on these families and children.  God is good.
