I guess the first thing I would like to mention about myself, to those that don't already know me, is that once I feel comfortable, I can talk up a storm.  I am, however, terrible at getting things written down on paper or typed.  There's something about the permanency of text that leaves me with less to say.

So, here goes telling more about myself…

My name is Kayla and I was born and raised in St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN.  I am also an only child.

I went to university in the Cities and for the last six years have been working in my career field as an accountant.

Thirteen years ago I took my first international trip (because as all Minnesotans know, Canada doesn't really count as "leaving the country").  Visiting Costa Rica in 2 one-week trips planted the seed of ridiculous passion for this part of the world and the people.

Since then, I have traveled to over 10 different countries in Central America and Europe.

I just went on my first missions trip to Ecuador for 10 days.

Naturally, The World Race seemed like the next step!

Here are some things I'm kind of obsessed with (ranges from mildly to crazily):

  • My dog and cat – and anyone else's
  • My family
  • Music – generally of the indie, singer/songwriter, folky fashion
  • Knowing how things work
  • Spending time with small groups of close friends
  • Helping children

I try to be a very authentic person, but I also enjoy joking around and being sarcastic.  If you can keep up, you'll get to know my heart and know whether we should be laughing or crying.
