One of our last contact meeting in Phnom Penh was with Russey Keo Baptist Church. We found them through Kanha, who is currently working with the Good News Club in the city. She is a member at their church and was very eager to introduce us to her pastor. Sherbs and I met with Kanha, her pastor, and church/school coordinator and it was apparent from the beginning we would be submitting them for potential contacts with the World Race. Here are a few facts and about what they do on a weekly basis:
-PreSchoolers: 50 children, 3 classes (start level-3 years old, middle level-4 years old, and high level-5 years old)
-Primary School: 40 students, grades 1-3
-Wednesday/Thursdays they have bible days with the Good News Club
-School starts at 7:30am and ends at 5pm
-School is 5 years old
-Church is 20 years old
-Teachers are volunteers on top of their other jobs that they hold
-The school takes in students who’s skill level isn’t where it should be and the public school won’t take them.
-The students come to school to get an education, learn about God, and know God with the hopes of them going home and sharing God with their families
-They want to expand on the school and hope to start grades 4 and 5
-The church houses older boys while they go to University
-They also house “grandma’s” who have no where to go rather it be because their families can’t afford them or maybe does not want to take care of them
Please keep this ministry in your prayers as they grow and help educate the children of their community!
