Want to see more of what I did during month 1?? Here are my top 11 Photos from Guatemala (in no particular order). Enjoy!

This month my team worked at a Child Day Care Center. I was in a Kindergarten classroom and was even able to help teach with the little bit of Spanish I knew.  This is Maite! She was kind sorta maybe one of my favorites. She was such a great teacher and loves hugs just as much as I do.  In this photo I was showing the kids how to take pictures and Andrea barely got us in between her fingers!

This picture is of me and my roommates this month. Our whole squad was together so I really got to know some folks outside of my team a bit better. I seriously loved sharing a room with these ladies and will miss being with them (minus Kristina, she’s still with me). We are a silly, honest, and strong bunch. Some of favorite memories from the month come from our goofy times and our prayers for each other.  Love them! L-R. Lauren, Kristina, Candace, Hanna, and Me.

On one of our days off we went into P, Guatemela. A large group of us went ziplining! It was my first time going and it was INCREDIBLE! I think I may have a bit of an adrenaline junkie in me, but I hope not because that’s an expensive life. Anyway, it was a blast and beautiful as you can see:)

During our first few days in Quiche we didn’t have our “official” ministry assignments. A few of us visited the hospital often to love on babies and the mothers there. On this day a group of us took flowers to the mothers there. Many of which just delivered babies (many of them born prematurely or even died soon after birth). Families aren’t always able to visit so we would go and sit with them and of course hold the babies.

It was so much fun to be in Guatemela during Independence Day. Here is a photo of the action on Water Day. This happens the day before Independence Day and people (kids and adults) run around the city and throw water balloons at each other. It looked like a blast. Why don’t we do this?!

During our first week in Quiche, we gave lunch to some folks in the center square. That morning we passed out meal tickets and came back in the afternoon to pass out the lunches we made and pray with people. This is a picture of Kristina sharing her testimony with the group.

On our way to Panajachel, Guatemala for our day off (ziplining trip), our bus broke down just as we were pulling out to go. So, our men helped push the bus back quite a ways so that it could be fixed. One of many moments on the Race I am glad to be a women!

Once a week each team was in charge of cooking meals for the entire squad. This is a pic of us making our first meal. Team cooking became one of my favorite part of month one as we often blasted some music, sung at the top of our lungs, and danced the night away. Oh yeah, and we laughed A LOT!

Okay, here’s a twofer. Above is a picture of me with some of the girls at the Day Care Center. To the far left is Ashli. She was in my class. After asking them about their families they asked about mine. I am showing them pictures of may family and friends on my phone. The bottom is a picture of my classroom. My class decor and structure was actually quite similar to that of the U.S.

When walking around in Quiche, you never really know what animals you’re gonna find. We’ve seen turkeys, horses, and dogs. In this picture we met a goat in someone’s hard. Lynn did a photo op for me.

And finally, here’s a pic of me in Antigua where we spent our last night in Guatemala. Can you see the massive volcano behind me?!
