Where to begin? I’m often too overwhelmed to even begin something at all. It doesn’t even necessarily matter if it’s a big thing or a little thing. I don’t journal very often because the thought of writing all my thoughts is overwhelming. This happens with countless other things as well; applications, new routines, working with a lot of people, etc.
Ever since I was 12 or so I can remember people telling met that doing something is better than nothing, showing up is half the job, you can’t win if you never try, etc. Well I’m 25 now and I still haven’t learned that lesson because I am still so easily overwhelmed that I quit before I begin.
This is year I want to resolve to show up; to places, to new things, to people.
Last at week I was in Quito, Ecuador with my old race team, a couple days ago I was in Washington,D.C. with my mom and sister and yesterday I arrived in Lilongwe, Malawi. I am planning on applying to multiple Nursing programs to begin after the race is over and I’m journaling!
Making resolutions on sis the pits, most years I fail, but the good thing about this one is that I only have to show up to as many things God calls me to an then just watch him do the work. I am excited to see what 2015 will bring, in the race, in school, in work, in family and anything else God has for me.
The future is unknown and overwhelming if you think about it, but all I have to do is show up.
Quick update:
This month I will be traveling around the southern part of the country of Malawi, Africa with my team doing Unsung Heroes. Our ministry will be finding and meeting with people who are doing amazing things for the people in their communities and the Kingdom, but aren’t getting the recognition or assistance to keep it going. We are here to help those people. This is my second month doing UH but this month I am with a new team that has never done it and in a new country. It’s bound to be an interesting month!
