My official job here with the Outpour Movement team is Assisting in Burma Program Development. This basically means that I am organizing a children’s program for the ministry that we do over the border in a Burmese town called Myawaddy. For more than one year we have been visiting a brick village (I was involved there even when I lived in Chiang Mai) which is a big dirt lot near a river where migrant workers and their families live. This is one of the areas where a piece of my heart stays.
I have developed a relationship with one family in particular that is really amazing. After a year of visiting, building trust, playing games, and praying for people, we want to get more organized. My job is to plan these programs consisting of songs, games, skits, spiritual messages, crafts, English lessons, etc. One of the developments I am very excited about is partnering with an NGO that does medical care and education. We have invited them to come into the community with us and are planning to start doing some basic health education.
