The good ole summertime πŸ™‚ Since FBR tends to be slower during the summer months, I had the opportunity to visit Mae Sot and Myawaddy, Burma more often. Of course I couldn't resist going to see the beautiful faces in the brick village.

Many of the migrant workers have moved on since I last went to the brick village. I'm hoping they will all come back though after rainy season!

I had heard rumors beforehand that some of the families had left and I was quite hopeful that some of the kids and families I have gotten to know better would still be there…Much to my surprise they all were!

I also was able to go visit a bunch of youth I have been getting to know that used to live in a refugee camp, but now have moved to Mae Sot. We had a fun sports day with them and their house parents in Mae Sot and were able to see some of our good friends (alumni world racers) who live there now.

On another trip, we helped the kids paint their new home blue. It has been their house mom's dream to have a blue house one day and now it has come to pass πŸ™‚

No trip to Mae Sot would be complete without going down to the bridge that connects Thailand and Burma and hanging out with these guys πŸ™‚ the child on the left was sold by his parents to a beggar woman who sends him out to beg. I've run into him a few times now and he has a special place in my heart.

On another note- I have had some amazing, lovely visitors to Chiang Mai this summer! Here is my world race teammate Danielle and her mom and below is one of my world race squad-mates, Jacinda πŸ™‚

And now…a surgery update. My foot is doing great! it looks a lot better than this now (I had just gotten my stitches out in this picture). I can officially wear a shoe now and went on my first hike the other day. I got all 3 pins out of my finger a few weeks ago and took off the splint a bit over a week ago too. I could use some prayers because my finger joint doesn't really bend much…but I trust it will in time πŸ™‚

I have been keeping very busy over the last few weeks with an intensive Thai class at a local university. I decided it was time to jump back in and it has really paid off. I have been loving my class and my Thai has improved a lot this month.

AND FINALLY…WHAT YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR (MAYBE…)

I will be heading to the USA…TOMORROW! A friend blessed me with a buddy pass to fly home so I will be flying stand by and will hopefully arrive in Washington State on August 2nd. I will head to California on August 11 and stay until September 2. For those of you at Calvary Chapel Gilroy, I will be at service on Aug 18 (and maybe even the 11th if I make it back from the airport in time). I would love to catch up! Please shoot me an e-mail and we'll set up a time.

I will go back to WA Sept 2-12 and then head back to Thailand. Ask me about my plans for the fall when you see me. A lot of exciting things are about to happen!!

Much love,

Aimee D
