Everything can change in the blink of an eye. It already
has…

As we begin the World Race, the members of our squad are
constantly reminded to not have any expectations. Its not as hard to be open-
minded when we lack so much information, but subconsciously I think we all have
at least some tiny outline we picture ourselves following for the year. Whether
we expected things to be really different or not, things have already changed.

Besides being in a country where the language, food,
sanitation, and currency are foreign, we have suddenly experienced drastic
changes within our teams. Since some participants that were expected to come on
the trip will no longer be joining us, there were some gaps in some teams. For
instance, our team was left with 5 girls and only 1 guy. This was the case for
a few other teams as well. As a result, day 1 for the whole squad in Guatemala
revealed new team formation. Two people were added to my team: Cody and Amber.
Sadly, Josh and Annalisa will not be a part of team SALT this year, but we are
so excited to welcome our new teammates. True to World Race form, the
unexpected is already happening. Bonds were formed in original teams, but it
has been so great to see the teams accept their new members with open arms and
vice versa. So far the transition appears to be going smoothly and those being
swapped to different teams have shown grace and courage to release the
expectations they had of who their team families would be.

Some of the teams have already gotten their ministry
contacts and information for the month. We are waiting to get ours tomorrow
(Monday). I am so excited to see where we will be heading J
As far as I know, one team will be staying at the hostel we are currently at,
doing evangelism, a soccer camp, etc. Another team will be heading to El
Salvador for the month for some kind of ministry, which I am unaware of. A
third team I talked to will be staying in another town about 15 miles from here
doing door to door evangelism and work with microfinance.

In the Blink of an eye, we can be sent to another country,
thrown into a foreign ministry, have a major change in our team family, and
experience a whole new world that we could never have imagined. It is only with
complete trust in God that we are going to be able to face the challenges and
hardships that may come our way and in return be able to accept all of the
blessings and joy that will no doubt radiate on us as well.

Can’t wait to fill you in on everything as it comes my way!
Check back soon to find out where and what my ministry will be this month and
to hear about our next mystery adventure on Tuesday J

And before I go a few fun facts:
