We made it to Malawi – the warm heart of Africa!  Africa is a place that immediately captures your heart.  It is filled with soul, joy, and love.  Life is slower here.  Washing clothes takes 40 minutes but it’s fun because you’re doing it with a friend.  Sometimes the power is out so you learn to cook rice on a charcoal fire outside.  White-skinned people are rare here so we instantly draw a lot of attention.  Kids on the street keep repeating “How are you?” and give high-fives and waves.  Almost every night the neighborhood kids come to our house and we make animal sounds and play games until dusk, when, exhausted, we hug goodbye several times until we simply have to walk in the house to get some rest.

To make this blog post I had to hike about a mile on a dirt road to the Zalala bus stop, where several bus drivers shout at us to get our business.  We choose one and cram in, 5 rows deep, and we’re off!  We navigate the streets of Blantyre until we are dropped off and hike another mile to the shopping center.  We pay for an hour of not-too-fast internet and enjoy getting in touch with family back home for a precious hour until our time expires.

I made a video explaining our ministry and showing what daily life looks like here but considering that it will take 2000 minutes to upload at this internet cafe I think I will have to wait to post it.

More updates and pictures coming with faster wifi!
