One of the most impactful parts of being on the world race is constantly being involved in the local church across 11 countries and 3 continents. Every place we go, whether we are preaching a couple times a week in the church or just visiting the church our contact goes to, we are seeing the body of Christ in action everywhere. We are seeing the consistency of Gods word as it is preached and appreciating the different styles of worship. We are seeing the spirit move through different people and seeing the way they have stepped into that calling to make a big difference in their community. One of those people that we are experiencing Gods goodness through every day in Cambodia is Pastor Paul.
Pastor Paul is a young man of about 35. He has three young boys and a beautiful wife. His life and entire mindset is dedicated to serving the Lord and being Christ in his community. He accepted the Lord when he was 20, and ever since then he has been devoted to spreading the good news that has changed his life. The man is constantly running from village to village, 7 days a week preaching God’s word to the children and loving on them and providing for them as Jesus would. This month our team is split among two village daycare centers and one of them is the one Paul started a year ago. He found a family with a spare room in this village who wouldn’t mind opening their land for the children of the community. Now it is a place where about 30 kids from this very rural community come to be filled with Gods word, sing songs, learn english, play games and receive a snack before they go off to their afternoon school lessons. When Paul was asked why he does this for the kids, he said “because they are my neighbors.” That is exactly what Jesus commanded us to do, love our neighbor as ourselves, and Paul has heard that calling and put it into action in his community. Paul also looks for different sponsors to provide food and clothing for these kids. Half of the kids come from very poor homes with poor hygiene and and habits. They will come to school half naked or wearing oversized t shirts that just droop over their body and they come hungry or tired because of their poor living conditions. So Paul makes sure their physical needs are taken care of. The center is a place where the kids know they will receive a snack and wear they might receive pants that properly fit them. And as I mentioned, this is just one of the communities Paul has committed his service too. He works tirelessly here in the mornings and afternoons, and in between is running around to check in on some of the other villages and on the weekends he is putting on programs for these other villages. All so that these kids can be loved as Jesus would love them and that they may come to an understanding of the saving grace Jesus’ sacrifice.
Please continue to pray for Pastor Paul ad his ministry here in Siem Reap.
