Sweet people….Texas is the place to be. Well, maybe not always, but it sure is great to be from the great state. I recently got to go on a surprise visit to my family in Dallas and it was excellent.
Since being accepted to the World Race in June I have felt nomadic and transitional. I went from 2 months in Alaska to 2 months in South Carolina then will go to training camp in October to Texas in November to Germany in December and finally start the World Race in January. I have tried to remember to be present – an old friend of mine would often remind me to be exactly where my feet are. These past few months have given me the opportunity to practice just that. With coming home from Alaska I have been behind on sending my support letters and our first financial goal is this week!
We cannot surprise the Lord. To start, my grandfather died in April. He has always loved and supported my family from long before I was around, the loss of him is felt deeply. But even after his death he still takes care of us. Apparently he had a silver collection that was valued at $12,000 dollars, which we split between his surviving heirs. This was unexpected news to me and I received a check for just about the exact amount for the remaining balance for my first deadline.
Our Father doesn’t forget. Even when we are late, when we turn our backs, when we miss out on opportunities to live well; he is on our side. Just as is his way he has a knack for turning mourning into dancing. It’s so nice to be reminded.
