IRELAND! FREAKING COLD!!!!
Got to Ireland yesterday afternoon for the “Awakening”,
which is a 5 day Godfest that we will be doing with the other current world
racers and some world race alumni. (Live Streaming on TheWorldRace.org)
To kick things off we headed from the airport to the
campground where we are staying. There are tons of tents! (Reminds me of Haiti
in a strange way…) I being proud of my hammock am making it a goal to sleep in
it as much as physically possible. So, despite the freezing weather, and my
lack of a sleeping bag set up the hammock with a tarp over top.
All was well, I had my fleece sleeping bag liner, and 2
airplane blankets which I technically stole… and a new sweater I just bought
because I was freezing my nips off! So, I laid down, lights out. Around 3 am I
wake up and one of the ropes to my hammock had loosened and I found my but
dragging on my back pack which lay below me… I then realize just how cold I am. I am SHAKING despite my “super warm”
airplane blankets… So I grab my clothes bag, and dump ALL of my clothes into my
hammock to provide more insulation. Still not enough! Now, I am beginning to
enter the 2nd stage of hypothermia.
So I jump out of my hammock with my fleece liner, and my
pillow and bee-line it for the restrooms 100 yards away. Now, wearing socks,
jeans, a sweater, and my fleece liner I lie down on the bathroom floor and fall
asleep. Yes, I said it.. I spent my
first night in Ireland sleeping on the bathroom floor, and for once it had
nothing to do with me having too much to drink!
WELCOME TO IRELAND!!!
Just found out,Team Reckless, will be spending the month in
Dublin Ireland doing ministry somewhere in the city. Looks like I am going to
be buying a sleeping bag, or hopefully stealing one from one of the other teams
(L-squad) who is going home just after the Awakening.
Be in prayer for us, and expect a video coming soon.. One from Haiti, one from Ireland.
