After looking at the blogs of my fellow teammates, I see now I’m a little behind on the postings. So, an update:  I spent New Year’s Eve and morning watching The Rescuers Down Under, Pinnochio, and Beauty and the Beast. It was a great throwback as I allowed myself to be a child again. Pinnochio taught me something really important: “I’ve got no strings to pull me down.” I feel the light in me brighten when I think about meeting up with my team and going forward in 4 days. I’m also acknowledging that leaving on Thursday hasn’t hit yet. But going on this trip feels right and I’m ready to step up.

I’m learning that God will work through me when I let him work and move in me. To grow spiritually will mean seeing hard things and reminding myself that truth is still truth, still a rock, regardless of how I’m feeling on a bad day.

Growing closer to the heart of God is challenging, painful, redemptive…and lovely.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1).

I recommend listening to  the End Credits track from “The Shawshank
Redemption” score while contemplating the freedom we have in Christ.
They go together awesomely : ))
