“I’ve got it,” “No thank you, I can do it,” “I don’t think there is much else to help with, but I appreciate the offer.” These have been regular phrases in my vocabulary for as long as I can remember. In today’s society, we have been taught to be independent, self-sufficient beings. Depending on others is seen as a sign of weakness and we expect for everyone to be able to make it on their own. Has anyone every stopped to think why this expectation seems to require so much energy and effort to fulfill, why we have to work so hard depend on ourselves alone to be able to make it in the world?
Because it is not how we were designed to be.
I am very guilty of thinking I can make it on my own. My pride and independence tells me that I don’t need to depend on others and that I have the ability to live my life without the help of anyone else. Why should I rely on others when I know that I will never let myself down?
Man has God given me an attitude adjustment on that thought process.
God created us not just to coexist with one another, but to be codependent beings! Needing the help and support of others is not a sign of weakness, and extending a helping hand to others is not sign of pity. In fact, God calls us to depend on each other in a number of ways throughout His word.
God calls us to ENCOURAGE one another. “But encourage one another daily as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by deceitfulness.” Hebrews 3:13. I know this has been a huge need in my life lately which God has used to make me humble myself and reach out to His people. With such a large amount of funds to raise ($9000) in only two weeks time, it is easy to feel like it is impossible. But nothing is impossible with God. And with the encouragement of the people God has placed in my life, through word, prayers, and financial support, God has showed me that He has given me an incredible support team. Without them, without you, I can’t make this mission possible. So, my pride aside, I would like to first ask you for your encouragement. I have come to see that I can’t always be strong enough to prevent doubt and fear from creeping in to my thoughts as I rely on faith to get me through this seemingly impossible task I have. I need your encouragement and support to help me remember that God has got this!
God also calls us to pray for one another. James 5:16 says, “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” God has taught me the incredible power of prayer and I would like to humbly ask you to be in prayer for me, my squad, and those we will be reaching as we embark on this journey. I need your help to make this mission possible, and I know that God has not called me to do this on my own.
God calls us to SERVE one another. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” God has given me the ability to connect with and uplift others, a heart of compassion, and desire for missions. For You, God may have blessed you with the ability to be patient in all situations or to speak words of wisdom or to lead worship. Especially in America compared to other parts of the world, God has blessed us with incredible resources. If we don’t use our gifts and talents to serve one another, we waste the gift God has graciously given to us. With that, the last thing I would like to ask of you is to use your blessings and gifts to help me continue on this journey to bring God’s love to the nations across the globe. God placed you in my life for a reason. And maybe you were just bored or curious or needed to kill five minutes, but God brought you to this blog page for a purpose as well. And one thing I have learned from God in this journey is that He has a purpose and plan for all things, and that being faithful to His calling produces unimaginable blessings in our circumstances. I want more than anything for you to be able to able to experience this incredible blessing with me! I pray that God is calling you to serve his kingdom with me. Please click the Support Me! link at the top of this page to donate and help me make this mission possible and to be a part in spreading God’s love to the people of El Salvador, Malawi, and the Philippines. I need your help, and God’s people need your help. We are better together. And together, God can use us to expand His kingdom.
I am so excited that God has called me to this mission and I pray each and every day that you too will hear God calling you to be a part of this incredible journey with me!
God Bless!
