“A human life has seasons much as the earth has seasons, each time with its own
particular beauty and power. And gift.”
Speaking in regards to my generation, regardless of religious affiliation, ethnicity, culture and background, I see one common thread all the way across the board:
A lot of us are where we are, living only to get SOMEWHERE ELSE.
“I can’t wait until I’m finally…” or “One day, I’ll be… I’ll finally have…”
Now, don’t get me wrong. OF COURSE aspirations are great! And I believe that goals are a necessity, if anything is to ever be accomplished in life!
These days, however, I feel like we forget to live NOW, while we work crazy-hard to get THERE. There is so much learning, so much experience, so much JOY to be found in the season that you’re currently in, but you’ll miss every bit of it if all of your NOW energy is divested into LATER.
As I fundraise and prepare for this World Race that I’m about to embark on, I am daily reminded of something very important. See, the 11 month mission trip, that season- it’ll be a testimony. A chapter of my story- full of adventure, growth, joy and pain.
But guess what?? So is the PROCESS of getting there!
This process of Support Raising is a testimony in itself! A season just as full of adventure and growth, joy and pain, as the World Race trip itself. Late-night brainstorming, getting lost in REI all day, miraculous moments of God providing hundreds of dollars in tiny Fundraising parties- all of these are moments to be lived just like the race, fully and wholly.
So, before I get to the worldwide mission field, I’m going to continue building the Kingdom right here, where I am. I’m going to live in the HERE and experience the NOW. I’ll be faithfully praising God for each lesson and testimony, and thanking Him for every moment.
Because this is the season I’m in.
