US city to JFK.  JFK to Prague.  Prague to Bucharest, and ba da boom ba da bing you’d be in Romania.  Here’s some reasons, in no particular order, why you should book the next available flight  to this Eastern Europe gem.  Ok, they’re alphabetical.

Bowling:  This isn’t your typical “knock ‘em down” and they stay down bowling.  The alley we went to here had ropes attached to the pins, so it yanked the ones that fell back up into their spots after each bowl.  It also only had two lanes.  We suspected it used to be someone’s basement.
Bread:  Every single meal, there it is.  I haven’t seen a salt or pepper shaker in a while, so maybe a committee decided years ago that bread was the new meal fixture.
Cheer for US Futbol during World Cup:  This week we are fortunate enough to have an electrical box in the house that displays moving images through a pane of glass.  It was weird seeing Ghana and Nigeria play knowing that we had just been in both of those countries.  Greece.  I’ve got my fingers crossed for you.
Coca-Cola.  I have decided that Coke is probably the most well known product in the history of the world at any given time.  Maybe the Bible has it beat.  Maybe.  (Side question:  Who do you think is the most famous person in the world?  I have reason to suspect that the answer is Michael Jackson.  Sad, but probably true.)
Mud Baths:  In America you may have baths and you may have mud, but do you have mud baths?  I rest my case.
Mud Fights:  On our walk back from a day’s work at a house our ministry is remodeling we came across a lot of mud since it rained heavily the day before.  There was many much mud flung.  One cute old Romanian peeked over her wall to see the wannabe-children at play.  I think we made her day.
Mystery Meat:  What’s this meat?  Carne.  What’s that meat?  Carne.  What am I eating?  Carne.  Ignorance is bliss, right?
OK Pizza:  If you buy an XXL pizza from Pizza OK, then you get a medium free.  That’s a deal worth traveling for.
Precious Moments Decorations:  My bedroom for the last week is typically lived in by three girls that are currently away from the orphanage.  One painting on the wall is a classic Precious Moments girl surrounded by birds with the words, “Multumiti lui Dumnezeu in toate lucrurile!” painted next to it.  I have no idea what that means.
Sarcasm:  A global phenomenon that keeps things interesting.
