It is currently Day (-1) of the Word Race.  Myself and the other team leaders flew into Guatemala City yesterday and traveled by bus to Antigua where we are spending two days preparing for the rest of the squad to arrive on Tuesday.

First of all, if you received an email with a link to this blog…good!  I added a lot of people’s email address to receive “Update Alerts” that will basically let you know when I update my blog with videos, pictures, blog, etc.

I’m certainly experiencing a range of emotions right now.  Even in the last day the seven team leaders have really bonded, which will be quite helpful in the coming months as we lean on each other for encouragement and support.  In a way the reality of the race has not hit me yet.  I’m here, but without team members it doesn’t feel like the starting line has been crossed yet.  (Hence it being Day (-1) and not Day (1).

Praises:  I think all of my support has come in!  (My account says $11655, but if my mental math is correct the remaining amount has been pledged.)  That’s so amazing.  Two to three weeks ago I was sitting at about $5600 wondering where the next $2400 would come from for me to be able to launch, and now I’m in Guatemala believing that I’m fully funded.

To My Supporters:  Without your willingness to give–in many cases when financially it might have been uncomfortable–I would not be here.  I believe without a doubt that God is going to change lives through this trip:  the lives of the people we come in contact with, lives of myself and fellow squad members, lives of those we have the opportunity to minister to back in the States, and the lives of those that we’ll all come in contact with after the race is over.  I feel blessed, humbled, and excited about the changes that will occur.  (A Racer that just finished her World Race a month ago told me yesterday something I thought to be profound.  She said, paraphrased, that the World Race makes people more into the men and women that they already are, that they’re already designed to be.)

My excitement is building even as I write this.  I promise to use more pictures in the future.

Prayer Requests:
– safe travel for the rest of my squad
– health and safety (accidentally brushed my teeth in the water yesterday…oops.)
– increased faith
– reliance on God, not myself
