To Haiti: (from a Hebrews 11 & 12 perspective)
-Adam Hidey ©2010
When God’s voice shook the earth
It was a look at your worth
Could you run the race?
It was a testing of faith
By faith we understand
The universe was formed at God’s command
What is seen came from His hand
Not from what is visible
And in sovereignty He planned
To shake and break this land
To see who would fall
And who would stand
And who could follow His call
But through it all
He was there
In the midst of despair
As pride was laid bare
And strongholds brought low
He wanted to show
That you are daughters and sons
And that His will be done
When the earth rumbled
And foundations crumbled
When created things failed
And were lost
The Haitian nation was humbled
As God laid a new foundation
Christ crucified, nailed
To a cross
Christ Jesus, who died
Is the author of life
The perfecter of faith
Who, in joy, took His place
At the right hand of God
It is through Christ’s blood we are bought
Christ’s blood that was shed
A flood that flowed red
He rose from the dead
And in conquering sin
Gave us power to win
And an example of discipline
So through hardships, endure
So that you can be sure
That your faith is pure
You know what you once were
But now are redeemed
So strengthen your feeble arms
And weak knees
Though your bodies are aching
And all may be breaking
Your hearts are yearning
For what your faith is earning
A kingdom that cannot be shaken
An inheritance that cannot be taken
away
This country is broken
But God has spoken
That you live by faith
You are not destroyed, but saved
And so to this nation
That’s rife with frustration
To each and every Haitian
I wish you grace, faith, and patience
Those who have ears to hear
Persevere, and don’t fear
for God
for People
for the Nations
for the Kingdom
