There are times when life just hurts. During the first few days here in Camotan, I experienced one of those moments. About 30 minutes after I posted the blog on last Monday a few local girls had found us and told us about their sister and the darkness she was trapped in. They were asking for our help in helping their sister get free from demonic possession.  wow.

It was a shock to us as well. So we talked about it for a minute and unanimously decided to check it out. We arrived at the house and found Myria. She is a beautiful 17-year-old girl who was lying in a comatose state right in front of us. Her hands and jaw were clenched tight. We asked the family to describe to us about what was happening to her. They told us that about once a day she awakens out of this state to eat just enough to keep her body alive. During that time, she will curse God, break crosses, speak in a voice that is not hers, her stomach will jump around, and then she will faint back into her previous comatose state in which she will remain in until the next day.

The family also told us that when they awaken in the mornings, there are scratches all over her legs, which was evident even though during the night her hands had never left their clenched state. Her family had called some witch doctors to try to cure her, but it only took her deeper into darkness. There was a look of deep desperation on the faces of her family for her.

She was unresponsive as we tried to talk to her and tried shaking her a little bit to see if it might wake her up. We began to pray over her and as we did her stomach started to jump more and more even though she was still totally comatose. We started praying freedom over her in the name of Jesus, to which caused her to start swinging a few right hooks at us and when we caught her arms so that she would not hit us, her response then was to try to bite us. Whenever we would take a break from praying, she would be lying as comatose as when we arrived. When we started praying again, whatever demonic force held her started going nuts. Yet after 2 hours of praying, she was still not free. The hurt and disappointment in all of our hearts was evident.

We came back the next night and began to pray over her again. Yet the results were the same. We prayed as hard as we could for this little girl to get set free from the darkness that had ensnared her, and at the end of the night, in darkness she still laid. This girl has her whole future ahead of her and yet is trapped in a darkness that we could not break through. And my heart was totally broken.
