The second village that we hit up seemed very closed off to the Gospel. We started out playing soccer again with the men to build relationships with them. And once again, we got embarrassed. After this humbling experience, we began to share our testimonies and the Gospel with the villagers, and they seemed to be totally blowing it off. We began to share through our interpreters, Andre Porto you are awesome, in some smaller groups. And then the rain came. And I don’t mean just a little. It seemed like a monsoon.

So one of the guys named Andershon invited us into his home with his family. It was very tiny and his entire family was there. This was a perfect opportunity to talk with him about Christ, because we were kind of trapped by the rain. I asked him where does he think he is going when he dies and why. His response was heaven and it was on account of his good deeds. So after a small period of time showing him what the Bible says about that, he realized that he did not stand a chance in the face of a Holy and Perfect God. We told him about our Overcoming Savior named Jesus and the grace of Christ in our lives. And he got it!!!!!!!!!!!

Some time later, we felt the Holy Spirit lay on our hearts that we should baptize him in the Amazon River. There were some major hills that were going to have to be overcome for this to happen, but the Lord paved the way. We talked with him about what Baptism is and how it is a public profession of Christ. He was down for it which was really cool and so we had the chance to dunk him in the river in front of about 2/3 of the village.

And the hearts  village that was previous closed off started to turn. Right before we dunked him, a girl came up to us and told us that years ago she accepted Christ but never had the chance to get baptized and asked if she could as well. To which we said that we would pray about it…..kidding. 🙂 So we baptized her and then one of our own who had not been baptized, Vicki!!!!! And then another woman came down wanting Jesus. It was SO powerful.

And God used this to start a small spark which would erupt into a fire later as many people came forward to put their faith in Jesus. And it all started with one guy who made a stand against social norms for his new faith in Jesus and the Lord did a powerful work. It was so cool!
