//Week # 1//

Getting to Ethiopia was an adventure in and of itself. We didn’t have tickets when we got to the Rwandan airport but praise the Lord for my incredible squad mates that chilled and prayed at the airport or made phone calls and talked to airport personnel. Two teams were on a flight that night (Six Pack was one of them) and the other teams joined the following day.

Moments of Waiting

Waiting at the airport not knowing when we would go to Ethiopia; waiting for another staff member to join our team (the incredible Vicky); waiting for everyone to be on the same page; waiting on the Lord. So much waiting. The art of waiting is not just patience and silence but is a beautiful dance birthed from constant listening and wonder. Great dreams are formed and miracles are witnessed during the waiting.

The first week we were in Ethiopia we stayed on a street in Addis Ababa full of bars, clubs and massage parlors. We waited. Walking the streets praying for the spirit of the Lord to come. That light would press into the darkness of prostitution, poverty and loss of hope. We prayed, danced, talked and listened as we walked. This was a time our team merged with another team and did street ministry.

One day I was walking alone to a coffee shop; the Lord asked me to dance. To dance on the streets. With my head phones in I praised the Lord though turns of adoration. After a few moments the Lord asked me, “did I notice?” Notice what? “Notice His children wanting to be made new.” A woman stopped me and said, “why are you so happy?” I said Jesus Christ. She turned away shaking her head. She was Muslim.

My prayer is that as I walk the joy of the Lord contagiously spreads to all who are around.
