Ok so here's what's going on right now:

We have arrived safely in Chinandega, Nicaragua and are working with the Vision Nicaragua ministry (http://visionnicaragua.org/).  We drove about 10 hours to get to Managua and then hopped on another bus for a final 4 hour drive to Chinandega.

This is how we get around, locally.  They herd us in the back of this truck like cattle.  But it's a lot more fun than it looks!

This month, my team is working with 2 other teams from my squad.

We have 2 volunteer cooks, here at our lodging site.  They work hard for all volunteers who come through here, cooking them/us 3 meals a day.  And tomorrow, we're going to begin on our 2 construction projects for this month.  For one of the cooks, we'll be installing a roof for her house.  And for the other,  we'll be building the foundation of a new house for her.

But since the director of the ministry isn't here yet, we can't start work until Tuesday.  So… what to do, what to do…  We head for the beach!

The beach was great once you got past the fact that there is trash EVERYWHERE.  You really have to watch your step for broken bottles and stuff like that.  Throwing trash in the trash can is a serious problem in Central America.  You'd think it's common sense, but it's a concept they just haven't grasped here yet.

We had a fun day of rest, body surfing the waves of the Pacific ocean.

A couple days later, we visited a small Christian school to play with some kids!  Of course, the game of choice was soccer!

Yesterday we went to the school for their graduation ceremony and we're going back today to pray for a man who has kidney failure.

All in all, we've been keeping ourselves busy until we can start work on Tuesday.  I've been doing a good job of taking care of my body and staying healthy with early morning workouts and eating right.  I haven't gotten sick yet which is a huge blessing!  And I'm just really enjoying being immersed in the culture of Central America.  They're such a happy, loving and welcoming people.

I know I haven't been blogging a whole lot, especially last month.  And I know yall deserve more than what I'm giving you.  Everyone reading this blog, in some way, sent me on this trip.  And the least I can do is let you know how God is working in the world and in my life.  So, I'm going to try a new tactic.  I'm going to try and write down at least "something" each day.  That way, I don't forget what happened last week that I need to tell you.  Sound good?
