I just arrived at our first ministry. These "Life Homes" bring kids off the street and give them a place to live and a chance to build a strong foundation in Christ for the rest of their lives. It feels too real being here. Here's what a typical day for us at the ministry is like:
A cup of atol (oatmeal porage) for breakfast, rice and veggies for lunch, and rice and beans for dinner… Almost everyday.

We've spent the last couple of days harvesting in the bean fields and working on some various projects around the site.

The evenings are usually spent hanging out with the kids. Jake and I live in the older boys house with 11 boys from the ages 10-17.

Tomorrow I have the opportunity to lead a devotional with them. I have one day to plan for it and I don't know what I'm going to talk about yet. But I know God will provide the words. I know I want to talk about prayer with them. And tell them how one of my favorite characteristics about Jesus is how he would often "steal" away from the crowd and pray in the wilderness, in solitude, with the Father. I want them to know that praying is simply "having a conversation with God." And that they don't have to wait until right before a meal to pray. A relationship requires a 2 way conversation and God is ALWAYS ready to talk. And how the first thing God wants to hear in the morning when they wake up, is their voice.

I'm so fulfilled right now! Finally living out the Great Commission is more rewarding than I had ever hoped. The boys are starting to warm up to Jake and I. And our team is starting to get into the routine of the ministry.
I'm not sure I've earned my right to be heard with the boys yet, that takes a little time. But it's only the first of many devotionals I'll be doing with them. I have 26 more days to show them why I'm here and let them know, what I have in Jesus, they can have as well.

PS – My plan of doing a lot of video blogs is failing. The international internet connections seem to be far slower than America so it's taking way too long to upload my videos. And I'm trying to keep pictures uploaded to picasa, but again, uploading takes so long it's been hard to find the time to do it. Stay tuned!
