Get Rid of Instructions!

Last week I finally had the chance to go to REI and was inspired to buy a new backpack, a mess kit, a watch and most importantly a tent! So naturally when I got home I began unfolding the tent I would be sleeping in for the next year.

In hopes that I could assemble it myself,  I began taking out the tent, the poles and I began thinking “This is going to be easy”

Was I in for a surprise! Because, I’m such a believer of no instructions . . . it took me an hour and a half to set up the darn thing.  The worst part was that because I was attempting to insert the wrong pole through the tent I ripped it. That’s right!! Ripped!
After realizing what i had done, I had to walk away. Not only was I upset but i became frustrated with the tent.
"why is this thing not working!" haha

As I began thinking of my newly ruined tent I thought of the multiple times I’ve gone through life without diving into the word and relying on my daily instructions (scripture). You see instructions are there to guide you but, when you are determined to do things with your own understanding  often times you will realize that your way is not always the most effective nor efficiant way of doing things. This is how we naturally  go through life (well those living in fast pace Orange County). I know i'm guilty of going days & weeks, without connecting with God but, there are moments when i realize i can't go any longer without having a conversation with God or reading my daily instructions (scripture).
. . . Why is it that we try to go through life on our own? When we know that we should rely on God.
I think i'll have to chalk it up to being HUMAN. We make mistakes it's part of our DNA and we can't help it. All we can do is accept times when we are wrong, acknowledge the mistakes we've made and, avoid making them again.

Food 4 Thought: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
