Sometime in February 2009 I was inspired to join the World Race. At the time, I was dating Becky Miller and had followed her and the January09 team. I had seen how it impacted many of the guys and girls. I never ever thought that missions work was for me. I had worked many times before at camps with many different kinds of kids, but traveling the world (and being out of my comfort zone) was never a top choice of mine.
After talking routinely with Becky and Matt Snyder, it just all clicked for me. I stayed up late that one night and filled out a bunch of paperwork for the World Race. I submitted it and gave it a few days to sink in. I talked it over briefly with my family and continued to follow the admission steps. All along, my “calling” or drive towards being part of the World Race never dwindled. Even though I was emotionally, spiritually, and physically exhausted this past semester from student teaching, God still had it lined up for me to go out into the world in October.
It has been a wild last few months. I am just now getting things sorted for my support raising, writing blogs, and getting organized. Expect some more stories soon!
