I am going back to INDIA this summer!!
God is so faithful to His
promises!
the ladies on my World Race team in India, March 2009
Last September, when I
returned to the United States
after my year on the World Race,
I was
particularly interested in going back to India,
but I didn’t know how or when
it would happen… until last week,
when I accepted the opportunity to lead a
Real Life trip this summer!
Real Life is a program of
Adventures in Missions,
which is the same organization that operates the World
Race.
These are short-term trips
(1-3 months)
for missions-minded individuals ages 18-21.
As a Real Life leader, I will
disciple my team
(which consists of four awesome young ladies!)
and create a
culture of growth, community, and servant-hood.
I will also be
responsible for communicating with our hosts and home office
and for some of
the logistics of the trip.
We will be spending the months of June and July
in the state of Andhra
Pradesh, which is in the south/central east part of India.
There are many millions of people living in rural villages
who
have no clean water, no electricity, and not enough food to eat.
Many of
these people are dalits (lowest caste), and
in addition to their daily
hardships,
they also suffer from discrimination and violence.
It is our mission to bring them hope
by providing for their
physical as well as emotional and spiritual needs.
We plan to partner with local churches to continue to
work of the Real Life team
who was in Andhra Pradesh earlier this Spring.
Some of the ministry we
will do may include:
service projects, encouraging and equipping church
leaders, evangelism,
and working with prisoners, former prostitutes, lepers,
families affected by AIDS, and
children at orphanages!!
The desire of my heart is to
see all people
experience the freedom and empowerment
that comes from
understanding their identity in Christ.
The Lord is truly my delight!
And I expect His Spirit to continue to do amazing things!
