No, this is not a post complaining about all the unwanted attention we get as children yell our “Mzungu! How are you?”, nor it is about the “mzungu tax” (inflated prices) we are often charged simply because of our skin color.
This is a serious cry out on behalf of a different kind of “white man”: the albinos in East Africa.
It is a rare mutation, and yet we have seen a handful of albinos in the city of Mwanza already.
We asked our pastor and our hosts about them, simply out of curiosity, and they told us horror stories!
Because of their rarity, witch doctors (who are very real in East Africa) associate albinos with certain powers, so they use albino body parts in their craft. Albinos are in very real danger of being attacked, and even killed, by people who are desperate. Desperate for a “cure” to their problems. Or desperate for the money that albino parts are worth.
Please PRAY for the albinos in East Africa.
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
