I apologize in advance, this blog entry is not particularly exciting but it will give you the most basic facts about The World Race. I stole the idea from another racer, nothing inspirational but it is all important.
What is the World Race?
The World Race is an 11-month long mission trip to 11 different countries through Adventure in Missions (AIM) to serve the “least of these” while living in real, raw community. The World Race creates long-term relationships with local ministries and churches in each place they serve. The goal is to help locals serve more people with greater effectiveness.
What is Adventures in Missions?
Adventures in Missions (AIM) is an interdenominational missions organization that focuses on discipleship. AIM was established in 1989 and has taken over 100,000 people into the mission field, some for as short as a week and others for as long as a year or longer. AIM is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization; all donations are tax-deductible. http://www.adventures.org/about/index.asp?iname=about#
When and where will I be going?
Beginning September 2014 I will be going to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Turkey, Albania, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica
What will I actually be doing?
The types of ministries we participate in really depends on the location each month and the needs of that community. Some days will be packed full with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, teaching English, praying for the sick at a hospital, ministering to those trapped in prostitution due to human trafficking, sharing food with the hungry, preaching at gatherings, or praying for the community we walk through.
How can you be part of this trip?
First and foremost, I can use as much prayer as possible. It is a huge step of faith for me to leave everything and everyone I know to be the hands and feet of God to people around the world. All prayer is appreciated and needed, and I cannot do it without the power of prayer.
You can also partner with me in this ministry by supporting me financially. In order to go on the World Race, I must raise $16,254, which covers all my expenses on the field including housing, food, travel, and insurance.
Specific Financial deadlines:
- $3,500- June 27th
- $7,500- August 22th
- $11,000- December 1st
- $16,254- March 1st
I am trusting that God will provide for all my needs, by providing opportunities and people who will support me. Donations made to Adventures in Missions are tax deductible based on the policies and principles located at www.adventures.org/policies. If you would like to give financially, you can make checks payable to Adventures in Missions with Victoria Castillo in the Memo line and mail them to:
Adventures in Missions
P.O. Box 742570
Atlanta, GA 30374-2570
You can also give online by clicking on “Support Me” in the upper left of the screen. There is a 3-4% fee for credit and debit card transactions. You have the option to give as a one-time gift or give monthly. If you choose to give monthly there is the option to use Dynapay to automatically give the same time and amount each month with no fees. As my financial deadlines show, I must be fully supported by March, and therefore stop receiving donations the end of February 2015. Checks can take up to two weeks to process and online donations take 3-5 days.
I am also in need of gear, if you feel led to donate a specific item you can go to http://www.myregistry.com/public/Victoria-Castillo
As an added fundraiser I have been decorating and selling mugs. Please text me if you would like one (909)230-0405. They are $15 and I can put whatever you want on it. I can also send you pictures to give you an idea of the ones I have made so far.
What is the best way to get updates?
You can stay connected with me and what God is doing around the world by continuing to follow my blog. You can receive email alerts every time I post a new blog by clicking on “Subscribe” link in the upper left side of the screen and signing up with your email.
I cannot tell you how excited I am to be part of this adventure God has laid before me and want to thank you, every prayer, word of encouragement, and dollar is a blessing! If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to let me know! I would love an email or call of maybe even a conversation over coffee. God Bless!
