For about two and a half months now I have been contemplating the idea of getting baptized.
Now I'm pretty positive that I was "sprinkled" as a child. I have this dimly lit memory of walking with my brother up and down the aisles in my home church after the process, feeling slightly awkward and a bit nervous as was my typical shy self. I just don't remember smiling a ridiculous amount when I talked about it, I don't remember making the decision to dedicate myself and my life to following and serving the One True God in front of family and friends. I don't remember being so excited that I giggled about it. But as I thought more about it on a bus ride from Bangalore to Chennai and as I talked to close friends about my excitement, the decision was made:
I was going to get baptized at our debrief in Nairobi, Kenya.
It was amazing and I want to share it with you.
Elizabeth Huff, Kyle Markel and Ashley Holcomb are only three of the amazing people on my squad who have changed my life. They are people that have encouraged and supported and challenged me throughout my time here and I am blessed and thankful to have them walking alongside of me.
I was also blessed to be surrounded by so much family, so many brothers and sisters. If I could have I would have had them all douse me with water.
Thank you for being there. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your love.
