The World Race – Leaving your home and everything you know to travel the globe for 11 months with a group of people you don't know yet. It can be scary, and we get that.
That's why we have an amazing team of people in our office in Gainesville, GA and around the world to help you through every step of the process. They continue to raise support after returning from the mission field in order to serve you as you begin your own journey. This month we'll be featuring one of them each Wednesday so you can meet the faces who make the World Race go.
This week, let's start at the beginning. When you create a World Race profile or call for information, who is on the other end? Meet our Admissions Department.

The Admissions Department is here to help you through the first steps of becoming a World Racer. They call you back if you fill out one of these forms. They answer any questions you have about whether the World Race is right for you. And they conduct your World Race interview.
They are the first people you interact with as a potential future World Racer.
Meet one of our Admissions reps:
Sam Owens did the World Race on W Squad in July 2011. When she finished, she felt God leading her back to Adventures in Missions. Sam found she loved helping people process what God is doing in their lives. She moved to Georgia and is now working in the Admissions Department at Adventures. We caught her in between phone calls and asked about her journey.
Why do you like working in Admissions?
“I really love helping people in their process. I love taking people through their chaos and helping them figure out where God is leading them – whether it’s through our trip or something else.”
I want to go on The World Race. Now what?
“Well, pray first. Then go to the website and find a route that interests you. Next, complete and submit an application. Pay the application fee of $39. Refresh the browser page and you’ll see a link pop up within the interview box. That’s where you can schedule a time and day that you are free for a phone interview. Then, you will be called 14 days later with your status, and if accepted you’ll be paired up with a mobilizer.”

What do you want Racers to know about the Admissions staff?
“We’re normal people. We’ve been where you are. We want to help you in the process, even if it means letting you verbally vomit to figure out if the Race is right for you. We actually care where you’re going.”
You don't need to feel alone in the process of determining whether the World Race is right for you. We're here to talk with you and help you discover your next steps. Start an application today to speak to Sam or one of our other admissions reps.
