Here at Adventures, we highly value stories. Because we want people to write good stories with their lives, we have programs
such as the World Race.The World Race began in 2006 when a group of twenty-somethings circled the globe simply asking the Lord for direction. As we enter 2013, we look forward to launching almost 700 Racers onto the field. All of these Racers have told their stories publicly — for the world to read.
Why do we tell stories?
Our goal is to create a culture of storytelling here at Adventures in Missions. God has called together a tribe of people who are living out radical stories; it is our job to bring those stories to light in a way that honors him and furthers the establishment of his kingdom on earth. Our hope is to be light in dark places, to give a voice to the "unsung heroes" around the world – all through stories.
Here on the World Race, we encourage our participants share the stories they live.
Donald Miller writes, "God is saying, 'Write a good story, take somebody with you, and let me help.' And once you live a good story, you get a taste for a kind of meaning in life, and you can't go back to being normal; you can't go back to meaningless scenes stitched together by the forgettable thread of wasted time."
God is writing good stories in each of our little worlds.
In the little huts in Africa.
In the little streets of India.
In the little cubicle in America.
Those "little worlds" are just the setting for the great story. No matter what your setting is, you can find stories of great courage and stories of fighting for something you believe in.
Wherever you are, God is writing a great story for you, too.
So in commemoration of our 100,000th story, we want to remind you:
Trust the Storyteller.
Live the story.
And then share it with the world.
