Sunday, October 7th – Wake up 6:30 am. Finish writing sermon. Eat breakfast at 7:30. Leave for church at 8:30. Start church at 9:30. Sing. Dance. Give 40-minute sermon with Georgia. Sing four songs as a group. Play ‘Heart of Worship’ for one of them. Return home at 1:00pm. Lunch. Nap. Watch movie with team at 3:00. Run with Emily at 5:00 – kids come flocking and run with us. Bucket shower. Dinner. Feedback. Lizzie shares her testimony. Read. Bed.

Monday, October 8th – Wake up 6:00 am. Meet two Kenyan friends to run. Run for 45 minutes on Kenyan back roads. Take cold bucket shower. Have our typical breakfast of fried bread, boiled eggs, and coffee. Nap because it’s our day off. Organize pictures and video on camera. Lunch. Take nap while the team goes into town for internet. Have a quiet time. Start reading through 1 John. Practice playing ‘Freedom Reigns’ on the guitar. Dinner. Feedback. Watch ‘Madagascar’ as a team. Read. Bed.

Tuesday, October 9th – Wake up at 6:00 am. Run with Emily at 6:30. Breakfast. Head to school at 8:30 and start teaching at 9:00. Teach math to 5th and 3rd grade. Take a break at 10:40. Teach 4th and 1st grade. Have lunch at 1:00. Teach 2nd and 6th grade. Head home at 3:45. Bucket shower. Nap. Practice guitar. Have quiet time. Dinner. Play pass-it pictionary. Feedback. Read. Bed.

Wednesday, October 10th – Wake up 6:00 am. Run at 6:30 with our Kenyan friend Aaron. Breakfast. Start teaching at 9:00. Teach shapes in 1st grade and how to write out numbers in 2nd. Break. Teach percentages in 6th and area of rectangles and triangles in 5th. Lunch. Teach Subtraction in 3rd grade and multiplication word problems in 4th. Head home at 3:45. Nap. Shower. Quiet time. Dinner. Play twister as a team. Feedback. Read. Bed.

Thursday, October 11th – Wake up 7:00 am. Breakfast. Head to school at 8:45. Continue on area with 5th grade and subtraction with 3rd. Break. Teach subtraction and multiplication with 4th. Can barely contain 1st graders. Lunch. Change clothes. Walk to a funeral. Sit for two hours unable to understand Swahili. Feel uncomfortable when people take pictures and videos of us. Georgia gives a word of encouragement to the crowd of over a hundred and we sing a song for them. Eat termites with kids. Head home. Chat with Travis out front of our house. Struggle talking to Travis because at least ten people interrupt our conversation to say hello. Dinner. Dance party. Feedback. Bed.

Friday, October 12th – Wake up 6:00 am. Run with Aaron and Emily. Have a quiet time. Breakfast at 7:45. Start teaching at 9:00. Continue doing the same thing with each grade. Lunch. Return home at 3:45. Practice guitar. Master ‘Freedom Reigns.’ Bucket shower. Dinner. Decide to make a poisonous snack to leave for the mice in our house. Play ‘hot seat.’ Feedback. Watch movie with Travis. Hang out talking with Travis. Unsuccessful mouse hunt at 12:30 am. Read. Bed at 1:30 am.

Saturday, October 13th – Wake up 7:15. Breakfast at 7:45. Head to school. Teach basic addition to 1st grade. Break. Practice multiplication tables with 2nd grade. Check homework in 6th grade. Have 6th graders braid my hair while I grade homework. Finish teaching at 1:00 because it’s Saturday. Take a ton of pictures with the kids. Lunch. Quick nap. Watch them kill the chicken for dinner. Go to Saturday market with Jillian and Carmen. Get stared at or approached by a lot of people, mostly men. Head home. Work on this blog. Practice guitar. Dinner. Chat with our host for a bit. Worship. Feedback. Watch ‘Walking Dead’ with Carmen and Travis. Read. Bed.
