We share ministry stories primarily through Racers’, who also tell you about the amazing people and ministries the World Race partners with. We are honored to have received this letter from a pastor in Rwanda; it’s a great encouragement and affirmation to get a perspective from the other end of the impact we aspire to make for God’s kingdom. Here’s the letter in its entirety, slightly edited. Photo from/by Vanessa Butler; included by us in letter.

Dear Friends…
I want take this opportunity again on behalf of all the hosts [of the] World Race squads which came to Rwanda on the 5th of January and left on the 29th of February. We are happy to report to you that this squad, just like the past four squads that have come to Rwanda, has been great in so many ways; they have ministered in different places: schools, churches, radio stations, orphanages, hospitals, on streets, and in different homes.
Their testimonies and stories have been great and brought healing to many in our churches and community. We have seen people coming to the Lord as they go into their homes and also share the love of Christ on the streets of Rwanda.
It’s like Rwanda was abandoned in 1994 in the genocide which claimed lives of over a million innocent people, but through the World Race we see how we are greatly loved by the young men and women. They came on our level just to experience the life we live and help us now to focus and not dwell on the past pain fears and frustrations, through the gospel of truth as they have shared with us [on] many topics, like to forgive, pressing on, love, carrying one another’s burden.
It was a great joy to our nation and leaders as their saw these men and women supporting Rwanda with our flags in this hands as we where playing with Nigerians football (soccer). They lived a life [that] is touching and challenging; they are true examples of Christ and we loved them.
Thanks to all the leadership of the World Race (Adventures in Missions) for considering Rwanda [as a] hosting nation. As a pastor, we thank you; the World Race’s ministry through these young men and women have made this work to be easier for us and our churches and ministries. We have seen lives challenged and changed; many have been herded to [heard in] our churches, painted our churches and helped in our day-to-day activities.
God bless you all for your dedication,
Pastor Bukenya (Moise) Mose.
