Katie and Billy Swan recently wrote about an experience that they had in Thailand:

HIV is [here] rampant and local men are taught to believe sex with a young, young virgin will heal them. Often the littlest ones are sown up multiple times to appear to be untouched.  Most boys have their first encounter with a prostitute before they reach puberty and this cycle continues throughout their life.

The girls I met were nothing in that place.  They were regarded as mere items to be sold.  Sold, used, and thrown away.

Who is going to tell them that they are special?  That they matter?  That there is hope for a different future than the one they know?  I sure hope somebody.

It’s a question that many World Racers ask themselves. It’s a question that virtually everyone who sees such a horrific thing asks themselves.

Who’s going to tell them? Who’s going to rescue them?

After years of seeing the injustices of human trafficking all over the globe, the World Race has organized a response launching in January 2011:

For five months, 35 participants will travel to India, Thailand, Cambodia, and the United States ministering to victims of human trafficking. The World Race has built a relationship with over 30 partners across these four countries who are committed to preventative, outreach, or after-care of trafficking victims.

This is not a trip for the light of heart. It’s not a vacation. It’s an experience that will educate, give experience, and help eradicate one of the world’s greatest injustices on innocent lives.
