Brittany Priess is a future racer on the June 2010 race. As she prepares for to leave, she reflects on some of her expectations of life on the race.
From what I’ve heard, life on the World Race is anything but
predictable. Still I have created some expectations as I prepare to
leave. Here are some things I expect while on the World
Race…
To fall in love my 60+ squad mates.
Brothers and sisters who will push me, challenge me, and teach
me even more how to Love like out Father.
Sleep on the floor every night.
I have yet to purchase my sleeping mat or sleeping bag; this
investment will be well worth it.
Eat rice for every meal at least for a month.
White rice, sticky rice, fried rice, brown rice…all good!!
We’ll if it ever gets old.
To be broken.
“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts,
there can be no more hurt, only more Love.” ~Mother Teresa.
Have to bring my own toilet paper everywhere.
I will find myself thanking God for my roll of Cottenelle 🙂
Culture shock.
WHAT!?! Everyone in the world doesn’t behave the same as
Americans?!?
To learn the basics of other languages.
Unjani macie? gracias!
To be overwhelmed.
By people. By love. By God. By beauty. By truth.
To walk everywhere.
Between the walking the the sqatty potties we will all have
sweet leg muscles!
To be surprised.
“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come
at an hour when you do not expect Him” Matthew 24:44
