Over 3,000,000 lives were changed in an instant.

500,000 now live in tent cities all across the nation.
150,000 – 200,000 are estimated to be dead.
9,000 United Nations Peacekeepers are keeping the country calm.
1,400 U.S. Military personal are helping rescue victims.
And 6 World Race Alumni are heading there to make a kingdom impact.

Stephanie Chiu (WR ’09) recalls that, “God has not forgotten His children [in Haiti], and His name is still being praised.”

In a country gripped with poverty, unclean water, and a dwindling lack of resources even before the earthquake, Haiti is a nation that has been crippled and needs the Church to help.  The World Race and AIM has a history of responding well to natural disasters (i.e. Mozambique, Haiti, Peru, Katrina), which is why it’s heading back to Haiti soon.

To begin their mission tour around the globe, the World Race July 2010 trip is headed to Haiti and to assist in rebuilding efforts. Not only will the focus be on individual recovery, but also on establishing a restoration of the country beginning with pocket communities.  The first two months will be spent in the Dominican Republic and Haiti assisting earthquake victims.*  The bottom line is that people need shelter, water, food, comfort and care, and we’re available to be conduits of God’s provision in Haiti for this.

World Race ‘09 Alumna, Stephanie Tyrna, is headed to Haiti this week.  She says, “Right now I am trying to get my stuff together, stand up, shake the dust [off] and prepare for battle.  This is huge.  At the moment, I have no idea what I will see or go through, but I know I am in the will of God, and that is the safest place to be.”

God is calling people like Stephanie.
He is calling us.
And Haiti needs you.

What about Haiti?
By Ashley Musick
We liked Pastor Louis from
the very beginning.  With every story he
told his love for the people of Haiti came through.  We learned about the poverty of the area, the
reasons behind the poverty, the desperate situation for women in the country,
the problems men faced to provide for their families, the spiritual strongholds
that kept both men and women bound up in all sorts of destructive cycles and
sin, and we learned what his ministry was trying to do about all of it.  Read more…

Out of the Comfort Zone – Path Evangelism
By Liz Froba
They said we would do things this year outside of our comfort zone.
Evangelism falls in that category for me.  However, when the opportunity
presented itself here in Haiti I knew that I was supposed to go.  I
knew that God wanted to show me His power and how He draws hearts to
Himself.   I knew that He wanted me to trust Him to work through me and
give me the words even when I didn’t know what to say.  Read more…
