At the time I wrote this, I actually hoped you wouldn’t be at home browsing the updates blog.
either IHOP’s Onething conference in Kansas City or at Intervarsity’s
Urbana 09, a student missions conference that’s in St. Louis. I only
caught some of the live webcast of Onething on Monday and have been
catching bits and pieces of Urbana via Twitter. After having attended
Urbana for the first time in 2003 (the last time it was actually in
Urbana-Champaign, IL) and the previous one in 2006, to taste only a
little bit of it this year from afar has left me quite wistful.
the World Race. It wasn’t quite a direct route, actually. I was
overwhelmed by the myriad of organizations being represented and I just
happened upon a booth that said, “Be a rock star!”
a fit of “carpe diem”, I ended up singing in front of a video camera
with David Lanning, who was then president of CTI Music Ministries. I
took my time in seriously considering going on missions with them and
completing my application, but I eventually was accepted to join a
summer team and was sent to Honduras in 2005. It’s been over four
years, but I still think fondly and gratefully at those six weeks of
ministry and the ten people I lived and played with then.
