We were asked to write a bog about how we were called to this mission trip.

Here is my story .

I remember when I was in middle school, eighth grade probably. My dad, my little sister, and I were vesting my dads family in Tennessee. And on the drive home (a seventeen hour drive might I add, that’s a long time in a car for a middle schooler)! We were stopped for gas, somewhere in Arkansas I think. When a homeless man approached my dad, and asked him for a ride to the next town a few miles up the road. Well needless to say I was scared, all I could think about was how ever since I could remember my parents telling us not to talk to strangers. And here we are driving one to a town we had never stopped im before. We dropped him off, and as soon as he got out of our car I asked my dad why the heck we just drove this homeless man to this unknown tow? And he said son, sometimes you just have to do something nice for people. And then he said not to tell mom… she would not have agreed to his decision… I don’t think she knows to this dad.

That day God defiantly instilled my dads words into my heart. Even though I wasn’t yet a Christian, I could still feel something inside me that said that he was right. And when I did help someone, I felt this joy inside that was unexplainable. Unexplainable until the day Christ found me… and I knew then what that joy I felt inside was, and it was then I knew I was supposed to serve him for the rest of my life. Shortly after I moved to north Carolina to got to school, where my passion for serving only intensified at the church home I came to know and love! I finished school and decided to move back home to Texas. Shortly after moving home I got a good job, started catching up with old friends, and fell very fast into the worldly daily lifestyle. I was so unsatisfied with what I was doing with my life. I started praying for God to use me in any way possible, shortly after, my best friend will (aka… will 3) told me about the race. Right away I wanted to go. So I prayed about it, and spoke with a couple leaders at my church, couple of days later I fill out the application, and here I am!
