The whole N Squad is together for a couple of days to have debrief. A few teams will travel to other locations in the Philippines while the rest will stay here. During debrief, each team will meet with our squad leaders and squad parents to discuss what worked and what didn’t in the past month. We also discuss the dynamics of our team, while also joining together for some intense worship services…I love it!
Before we arrived in the Philippines, God had been preparing my heart for it. I can’t really explain it, but I know this will be a huge month. There is a new excitement with the team. Everyone is on the same page, with the same goal. We all know that we will be a part of something great.
As our bus pulled in to the village, the children ran outside of their homes and filled the streets. They were waving to us, cheering for our arrival, laughing, playing, and dancing in the street. I was humbled. I was excited. My heart was instantly broken by their eagerness to be loved. We all quickly unloaded the bus, then ran outside to play with the children.
When I came outside, I noticed that the parents and other adults had now joined the children in the streets. They were all smiling and waving to us as well. The little ones took our hands and led us to a park about 20 yards away from our rooms and we played basketball, tag, and any other game the kids wanted to play.
There is one family here and another family that will arrive in a few days that are both adopting children from the village. It has been such a blessing to watch the new family interact. Again, I can’t explain it, but to see the excitement in the child’s eyes, as well as the parents….unforgettable.
I can’t wait to see our Father at work this month. He’s already started! I saw my first miracle! A woman’s feet were healed right before my eyes! One racer has been baptized! And many of us have found a new freedom in Christ! We’ve been here only a few days, and lives are already changing!
