friends, and as I made the 3 hour trip the Lord started talking to me about
dependence. He simply said that in the
natural realm we grow up and become independent, but in the spiritual realm our
growth is unto dependence on Him. As I
began to think about this simple truth, the Lord began to show me that this is
how we were made. We were built to be
dependent on something other than ourselves.
If you look at some of our main identities in the bible they are all roles
of dependence. A couple examples of this are being the Bride of Christ, and
sons and daughters of God. You can also
see it in the fact that He’s the Good Shepherd and we are the sheep, He’s the
Vine and we are the branches. In all of
these cases we are in full dependence upon Him.
Even Jesus, who is perfect, was in total dependence on His Father. He only did what He saw His Father doing
(John 5:19). Jesus lived a lifestyle of
dependence on His Father. One of the
most awesome truths about this is that we have a God who longs for us to lean
into Him. He wants us to depend on Him
for EVERYTHING. Every Christian’s journey starts with dependence on the fact
that Jesus came and saved them by the work of the Cross and His resurrection. Dependence
and faith go hand in hand, our dependence comes from faith in the Character of
God. Just as growing is a process, so is
become dependent. So let us go after our
Father today, believing in faith that He is good and he longs for us to depend
on Him for everything. If you have a problem or trial today, trust God with
it. For He is faithful in everything He
does (Psalm 33:4). If you’re going to go
deep in God, you must go deep in dependence on Him!! These are just some of thoughts the Lord has
been speaking to me, I hope it blesses you!
