The Lord provides in mysterious ways! A couple weekends ago my mom and I were out at REI buying some supplies for the World Race. I was sharing with her my mom concern about raising support for the trip and the burden I have put on my parents to help me with the cost of shots, malaria meds, ect. My mom, Tracey, told me to have faith. She said, “God has called you to this next season and He will provide everything according to His will and plan in His timing.”
So we get home from REI around 3 o’clock on Friday afternoon. We are not home 20 minutes when our dog Gizmo starts barking and going crazy at the door. I go look out side and there is a dog on our porch. Honestly did not think it was a dog at first. I went outside to see if it had a collar. His name was Spike, and the address listed on the collar was from a near by neighborhood. Spike is a Chinese Crusted hairless! Tracey called the number but no one answered. So I took the dog to the address just in case they were outside looking for him.
I pull up to the house and go knock on the door. A middle-aged man came to the door. I said I think I found your dog. He grabbed me and embraced me as he yelled to his wife, “They found SPIKE!!” She comes out of the door crying and embraces me. They start telling the story of how Spike ran into the woods 3 days before chasing a deer. They had been looking non-stop for Spike and had just given up. The wife came out to my car to get Spike and said let me put the dog inside. She returned with a $1000 check. I said, “I can not take this check.” The husband said, “you are not leaving without the check.” I was able to tell them how this was the Lord providing and about the World Race. I praise God for providing through a dog named Spike.
My Pastor who I grew up under used to say, “Obey God and leave all the Consequences to Him.” I believe that to be a very true statement. In the past couple weeks I have realized the how abundantly the Lord gives once we surrender and have faith in His provisions. Jesus just says, “follow me.” Do we understand the weight of that statement? Do we have faith that if we follow him he will provide for us? May we be people who seek the spirit and are tapped into the Jesus on a deep intimate level. Love God and Love neighbor. Jesus says you do this and you will live. Lets live abundant lives trusting God in every aspect of our lives.
