I traded shoes with a Haitian!!!
Haiti 2 weeks in has been amazing thus far. I have grown so much from being here in Haiti and where we live. The beach and its beauty is a great place to spend time in the word everyday. When we have our days off it is such a great place to get refreshed and recharged because our days at work on the construction site are VERY LONG AND HARD!!! It gives the phrase “a days hard work” a new meaning. Our backs, arms, and legs are sore from the buckets of concrete that have been poured and the amount of dirt that has been moved from shoveling. The sun is hot and the sweat pours down our faces and backs. Construction is NOT MY FAVORITE ministry I have ever done. And if it was my choice I would avoid it at all costs. It has challenged me physically and spiritually since we started. But to get to see the progress and the process so far has been an amazing blessing and the school and church is coming along quickly. Then the challenges I have faced start making me wonder………
………..then I start to think about all the positive aspects from this months ministry and how we are building a foundation for thousands of haitian students. A foundation that will let them learn in school, Worship the Lord, meet other friends, gather tools for their futures, and its all in the name of CHRIST!!!
Christ is continues to build all of our relationships with our teammates and with the other ministry contacts we have been blessed with here at M.O.H.(Mission of Hope).
That to me has been the most amazing blessing so far and the most impact-full relationship I have been blessed to build so far is a haitian kid named Justin who lives with us on the compound.
Justin is 15, full of life, loves music(my electronic music a lot), jet lee, and serving our team in any way, shape or form. Just the other day justin without even being asked came over to help me with my laundry( Im horrible at doing it by hand) and I know it sounds SILLY but Justin had to teach me the correct way to scrub my clothes clean. This was so interesting to me because this is something so simple yet so intricate in process. Humbled for sure I let him teach me to proper ways to scrub my shirts, pants, and underwear. Justin serves our team in the compound as his job every day but he has now become part of the family.
The other day I noticed that Justin only has ONE PAIR of flip flops. This one pair of foot protection is what he walks around in all day. But his flip flops have holes in the bottoms of both sandals. He uses them for everything and so they are completely used up.So when he was helping me with my laundry I asked him if he would like a new pair and he said in his little english “I would like pair of shoes better to use, yes please”. So on the spot I traded his sandals for my sandals. Both fit great with the correct size and then looking up at me with a little smile says “Thank you much”. Just something as simple as a pair of shoes changed Justin’s heart to be even more grateful than it already was. This did the same for me maybe even more. Justin now walks around without fear of thorns or rocks because of these shoes and seems to enjoy them very much.
This story about Justin ties well into my progress as a full time missionary because the process about giving more about myself is becoming less of a challenge. Its becoming who I am as a person and Loving on others, doing construction, and Loving the LORD with all my heart, mind, and strength is developing.
Tyler Hamilton the MISSIONARY is developing into more of a MAN OF GOD EVERYDAY and its an amazing journey!!! and this is the same process that Paul in the book of Acts went through everyday to complete his ministry for Christ by sharing the Gospel all over. He listened and was connected with the Spirit and knew when he was going to face challenges and in what places they were going he happen. Reading about Paul and his travels in the book of Acts reminded me a lot about the same steps I am talking in my faith here in Haiti. Trying to always be willing to be open and always listening to what the spirit has to say day to day.

But I can’t continue this mission alone. ALL OF MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAVE HELPED ME SOOO MUCH! I need to humbly ask for more help in prayer and in support to continue The World Race and stay on track with the financial side as well. It so great to have such an amazing family back home of supporters and people who continue to pray for me on this mission of faith around the world!!!
Our teams next support deadline is April 1st and by then I need to hit the 11,000 mark in my support goal. With 8,700 so far in total support, I NEED 2,300 TO HIT THIS NEXT GOAL AND CONTINUE OUR AMAZING MINISTRY IN THE NEXT COUNTRIES LIKE, SOUTH AFRICA, INDIA, AND NEPAL!!!
This is more then me asking for more support this is me asking for MORE PARTNERS and SPONSORS!!!! SO I HAVE A CHALLENGE…….I challenge my friends and family to GO TALK TO ONLY 10 friends or businesses or family members, TELL THEM WHAT THE WORLD RACE IS ABOUT and CONSIDER GOING TO MY BLOGS READ AND MAYBE EVEN SPONSORING ME FOR SOME AMOUNT OF SUPPORT!!!
Or if you have any other ideas that could help me please let me know. I am trusting this is God’s hands for this deadline to be met and he has already blessed us so much here in Haiti!!!
Thank you SOOO much and please spread the word about the Gospel, The World Race, and my blog site!!!GOD IS LOVE!!!
