Cows. Yes, cows walk the streets. I saw one creating a traffic jam near the toll booth on the highway the other day.

Taj Mahal. 7th wonder of the world. Large and white. Incredible how 22 years went into building a memorial for a king’s wife. Very cool.
Curry. So much curry and rice. Even for breakfast.

Slum. We didn’t spend too much time here, but we immediately drew a lot of attention. For most of the time, we ended up standing in the middle of a huge circle of Indians staring at us. I was most impressed by the unusual amount of wild pigs roaming the area.

Leper Colony. Four of the children at the mission come from the Leper colony. Not everyone there has leprosy, but have lived there for years because a grandparent or relative had leprosy. I have to admit we were a little nervous because we couldn’t remember if leprosy was contagious as we shook hands with people, but 1. We’re covered in the blood of Jesus. 2. Leprosy is communicable only through open sores.

Monkeys. They’re all over the city. The other day I was sitting on the roof and a big one was blocking the stairs to go down. They’re pretty evil, so I was stuck on the roof until a neighbor came and rescued me by hitting the monkey with a metal pole.
Nose piercings. We wanted to get our noses pierced, so our neighbor took us down to the local piercing place. No joke the guy wanted to use a blunt, unsanitized needle he was going to push through with his bare hands. Since we’ve had our hepatitis shot, we went for it.
