Oh man. I’m so excited to write this blog. God has been showing off this week. Seriously, it has rocked my world. I’ve gotten some amazing confirmations this week, but listen to this: So we have been praying hard core that God would provide money for us to celebrate Thanksgiving. We are on a really tight budget this month and we only had $1 each for Thanksgiving dinner. So we’re praying. We entertained the idea of playing guitars out on the street to raise money, but it didn’t work out. So Wednesday we still had nothing. We’re in this taxi bus and these German guys start talking to us because Kelly accidentally kicked one of them. He tells us he is spending time away from his wife on a holiday with his boyfriend this week. I waited for their response as we told them what we were doing. Instead of criticism, they offered to take us for a drink, but we were on the way to minister in the bars, so we said no. Then they asked if they could take us to dinner, but we couldn’t. Then they asked if they could make a donation and we said sure. He starts rolling out thousands of Bahts and ends up giving us 3,000 Baht ($100). On top of that, he pays our taxi fare. So, reality check: a random homosexual German who is cheating on his wife just gave us $100 after meeting us for 5 minutes in a taxi. Please tell me God doesn’t have a sense of humor. So we found an amazing Mexican restaurant on Thanksgiving and ate amazing burritos to celebrate. It was amazing.
That same day we go into the bars and minister. Another reality check. Sometimes when you step back and think, “hmm…I’m drinking a sprite and playing pool with a man in a dress while singing Justin Bieber songs in a bar in one of the worst red light districts in the world.” It’s crazy what becomes normal these days. So anyway, Amy has been feeling like God wants her to play a song she wrote in a bar here. We started praying into it as we walked down Walking Street. We felt like we were getting the green light, so we went into every bar with a stage on the street (and it’s a long street and there are a lot of bars) asking if our “band” could play some night. Now remember, Amy is the only one that is actually instrumentally talented. I’ve only played the drums 3 times, Nikki plays the cowbell, Jennilee just learned the bongos, etc. But when God tells you to do something, you just have to step out in faith. lol so we got responses from 3 bars. Tonight we have an “audition” in one of the bars. This “audition” will take place at 10:00 pm on Friday night on the bar stage!!!!! So tonight our “band” will be playing worship in a bar in the red light district. Please pray that the Holy Spirit shows up and gives us some supernatural talent :). We also figure there’s nothing to lose. If we’re going to fail, we’ll fail gloriously. Yes!!!! I love when God shows up.
