Surrender
“The action of submitting to a powerful influence”
Surrender means completely letting God orchestrate your life, your entire life, not just a part here or a part there or only when you feel like it but every minute of every day submitting your life, your will & your focus to God. My life is not my own and neither is yours. You see, what so many Christians don’t realize is when they give their life to Christ, they are surrendering to an all powerful and all loving God. When you give your life to Christ you let him run the show, and he makes something utterly beautiful out of it but you have to truly surrender it to him, that means doing the things you don’t want to do when he tells you to, that means getting out of your comfort zone, that means saying the hard things, that means loving always no matter what. When you try to do your own thing and live life your own way you’ll fall flat on your face every time. God has something better, his ways are better, his thoughts are better, his plans are greater.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “”For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” declares the Lord. “as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.””
Wild Love
Lets start this one off by saying the most important thing LOVE IS NOT AN EMOTION, Love is a choice. That’s a big one I’ve had to learn the past 8 months. Love is a lifestyle, Love is the core of Christianity, Love is what held Jesus to the cross, God is Love & Love is God. Okay, now that we’ve defined Love lets talk about the word Wild. Wild means something in its natural state. So… Love in its natural state is Wild Love. So what does Love in its natural state look like? Well since God is Love and quite frankly we can’t comprehend God then we can’t fully comprehend Love in its natural state. But this really awesome guy named Jesus came to Earth and he lived out a life of Love, Wild Love. So for us to live in Wild Love we have to take a look at Jesus’ life. Wow, I’m just realizing I could write an entire book on this… Anyways, I won’t go in depth with this but you get the point, to Love Wildly we have to live like Jesus did.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (now go back and insert ‘God’ for the word ‘Love’ and ‘He’ for the word ‘it’)
Untamed
“Not domesticated or controlled”
Church today for the most part has become tame, it’s become religious. “Do this, do that” “don’t do this and don’t do that” “say these things” “dress this way”. I don’t like it. That’s not how Jesus intended the Church to be. Look at Acts chapter 2 and you’ll see what I mean. Church is the body of believers not the building, we all know this, but do really believe it? Church is your family, it can be your friends, your coworkers, your school mates, anyone. Church is the body of believers. So now lets talk about being truly Untamed for Christ. You see in our culture today it’s all about “fitting in” well i’m not about that anymore. What if God tells you to go and pray for that man or woman over there, are you going to worry about what other people think, what that person might think? Don’t. What if God changes their life because you decided to step out and pray for them? Let me ask you something, What influences a person?… another person does. So if you step out and step up in Jesus name with God at your side and the Holy Spirit inside of you, you’re bound to make a difference. A difference in the Kingdom and you’re bound to inspire others as well because people inspire people. Living a life Untamed means breaking religion. Little things like praying with your eyes open, smoking a cigar, wearing your rolling stones t-shirts to church on Sunday, praying for everyone you come across in the grocery store, asking for the bill of another random table at a restaurant, sliding your tithe underneath your neighbors door, maybe its not going to church on Sunday but instead sleeping in and having a service with your family, maybe its sitting down for worship and just listening to God or maybe standing right in front of the stage jumping up in down because God is so good. I could go on and on but the point is Untamed. Live a life Untamed, break religion, do the thing, step up and step out, be a light, listen to God always, pour out all of your love to other people and let God fill you with even more love.
These 3 things are some of the biggest things I’ve not only learned but walked through these past 8 months. It’s been difficult, very difficult but it’s worth it. I promise.
“I pledged my head to a holy love
Put down my paper, picked up my guns
We took the hill, me and the Thunder Sons
We didn’t quit till Thy Kingdom Comes”
