We were extremely fortunate to be able to help the girls move into their new home. Ever since we got there we wanted to be able to experience that and God answered our prayers. I felt so blessed and I really felt like I was part of this family. These girls really made in impact on all of us guys this month. And we had an impact on their lives as well.
The whole unavailing of the house was a surprised for the kids. They knew it was being built but they had no idea when they were going to be moved in. We went to the property in the morning while the girls went to the swimming pool off site. We managed to get most of the stuff moved in and got the beds set up. As soon as the girls got back, we had them go into their old rooms, and to their surprise, their rooms were completely empty. It took them a second but soon realized what was happening. They were moved into the new house!

The girls were very anxious at this point and wanted to see their new rooms. We all walked down the street to the new home and brought them upstairs to the closed door of their new room. We then let them all go in and they lit up! They all had brand new bed sheets, covers, pillows, bed frames, drawers, the works! They were so happy! And I got to be here for this!

After calming down just a little, we all sat down for lunch on their new balcony. Chicken and sticky rice on newspaper! Our first family lunch in the new home!

Later that night we all celebrated and fellowshipped downstairs in the main room with games, singing, pizza, cookies, soda, and pastries! The day could not have gotten any better. God is awesome and provided these girls such a wonderful life.

Then it was time to say goodbye, and I can’t help but tear up reflecting back on it. You can’t stop your heart from softening with such an amazing family of girls. Something changed in all of us guys this month… The girls started their goodbye with a song sung to us. A song of thanks and how much they appreciated us. It was so powerful and so moving.

After the song, they ran upstairs and grabbed drawings that they made for us. Every one of them had a drawing for each of us. With a month like this, you really do not want to leave. Africa will be cool and all, but leaving these girls was one of the hardest goodbyes yet. I wish we could have just brought them to Africa with us.
