Last night was crazy! It all started when we were about to start worship. It was about 8:30 and worship was about to commence when all of a sudden the heavens opened up and the rain was unleashed on us. We all got under cover and started worship there. A lot of people went out into the rain and danced and worshiped and it was awesome. We were really into it. About an hour passed and one of the local church pastors came to check on us and let us know that this was going to happen all night long and would probably get worse. He invited us to sleep in his church that night but 5 of us decided we would rough it back at camp. So we did! It was Tyler, Jake, Jordan, John, and I who stayed back.
We decided to try and watch “The Office” in the laundry room at camp. It was one of the only places that was dry. The problem was, it was raining so hard that we could not hear the laptop at all. We attempted to play it on two laptops and time it to play at the same time but that still wasn’t too successful. Well the show ended and we decided it was time to try and sleep. Jake, Jordan and John ran to their tents while Tyler and I stayed back to wait for the rain to slow down. We still had our instruments with us so we didn’t want them to get wet. We finally found a little break in the down pour and we went for it. It was about a 300 yard dash to our tents. When we got there, I found that my tent was completely in a puddle that was about 2 inches deep. Tyler offered to share his tent that night, so we did. We put all our stuff in my tent, making sure the electronics and the instruments were elevated off the ground, and I threw my sleeping stuff in his. So there we were, partially wet, very humid, and slightly warm.
I woke back up around 5:30 in the morning to it still all out down pouring. I was a little worried about the gear in my tent so I got out to check it. Turns out it was still quite dry in my tent so I went back to sleep, once again a little wet. I woke up again around 9 in the morning. Robby, John, Jake, and Jordan were outside moving all the tents out of the puddles and putting them on high ground. I figure I should do the same for mine, so John and I got my tent and moved it. There was a problem though. One of my tent poles broke in the moving process and I had nothing to repair it. I was able to take one of my stakes and some rope and do a temporary fix to it until I can get a replacement pole.
