(Volley Ball outreach on the beach)

We have been here in Byron Bay for over a week and it has been hard to find out what we are supposed to do for ministry. There is not a whole lot set up for us, and I have been spending a lot of time asking God for guidance as to what to do while I am here. Nothing was settling well with me. I tried some of the outreaches and did what everyone else was doing but I wasn’t passionate about it. One of the YWAM guys had told us, “Find out what you are passionate bout and do that”. So that’s what I was seeking. Something I was passionate about. Well not long after that, Tara, our squad leader, came up to our team the other day and told us she had a great idea for us. She thought it would be cool if we did a documentary type film of Byron Bay for some local ministries to use. I thought this was a pretty cool idea, but I had no idea how to do a documentary film. I have only done a couple videos in the past and they are only a few minutes long. That’s it though. Other than that, I have never done any video work before. Especially not a documentary film. So this presents a great challenge for me, but I’m up for it.

I have spent the past few days studying some documentary films, observing styles of shooting, making lists of the subject matter I need, and learning the culture here in Byron Bay. I think I have a good idea of where this is going but I’m spending a couple more days doing some research and gather all the info I can to be ready for shooting next week. My goal is to start shooting next Monday and be finished with that within a few days. Part of this depends on good weather, so please pray for that. The weather can be crazy here. Just today it’s been raining for 3 hours nonstop. So come Monday, I start shooting.

If anyone has some good info on documentaries, please let me know. I want to be as prepared for this as possible. Pray for me that God will bring me the right people for this, and that this can make an impact in peoples lives.
