We just arrived in Byron Bay, Australia! It’s beautiful here! God makes some awesome looking scenery! We are right near the ocean and it is amazing! Right now we are at a campground sleeping in our tents, and so far it’s rained both nights we have been here. It rained so much last night that all of our tents have water puddling in them. It’s not much water, but it’s just enough to make things moist. I’m hoping the sun will come out soon so I can start drying everything off. Right now, we are way over budget staying at this campground, but it was the cheapest we could find. There are 3 teams here which makes a total of 19 people and what we found out is, we can go rent a condo for much less money than staying in our tents at the campground. This would put us much closer to being on budget, and about a hundred other good reasons we thought of. So it looks like all 19 of us may stay in a 3 bedroom condo if everything works out. We called the owner and they said that it would be ok! Which is great because we also have to walk over a mile to go into town, until we get the condo which is right on the beach and very close to town!

One thing I’m very happy about is our 4 days off here. We don’t start doing work until Monday so we’re taking time to hang out at the beach and explore the area and relax. Yesterday I went shopping for a surfboard. Jake and I had a great idea to buy 2 cheap surfboards to have for our days off and for our morning workouts. We are in one of the top surfing places in the world! Why not!? Jake found a pawn shop that had hundreds of boards and I happen to find an awesome deal at a rental shop for a 7’9″ longboard all set up. So he bought that one and I bought a 6’6″ board from the pawn shop. Unfortunately, the waves weren’t too great yesterday, but it was still cool.

On a side note… One thing about Australia is the animals here make the weirdest sounds! The birds sound like they a whistling songs, they also sound like monkeys, or maybe they are monkeys? There are apparently Koalas in the trees above our tents, there are giant bats that pooped on one of the girls last night, the ants here are about an inch long, and they bite! And everything here is poisonous. I think. I’m not really sure what to think of this place. I love it, but I’m also a little freaked out. Let’s just hope we get this condo soon…
