To be honest, I had only heard the name Malaysia before coming on the World Race. I had no concept of what this country would be like. I had no idea of what their politics, economy, or culture was like. So you can bet I was surprised to find something from home here.
Two weeks ago, we went grocery shopping for snacks and breakfast foods. As I was scouring the aisles, I decided to get something healthy. As I looked over my options, I was amazed to see a taste from home. Most grocery stores in the countries we have been to so far have 4 double-aisled stores similar to our 7-11 stores in the United States. In this large (the size of a normal one in the United States) grocery store, I found the one product from my home state of Washington. I never thought I would be able to support my home state’s economy and the country of Malaysia all by buying one item. What was the item from home? I was able to purchase Washington State Red Delicious Apples. I have included some pictures to prove the authenticity as well.
